NARL Scientist, Engineer & JRF Eligibility Criteria 2026
Candidates must satisfy the NARL eligibility criteria 2026 in terms of
educational qualification and age limit for the respective posts as on the
closing date 27.04.2026.
- Scientist/Engineer
‘SD’: Ph.D.
in Physics/Atmospheric Sciences/Meteorology/Earth Science/Environmental
Science or equivalent from a recognised university with prior M.Sc./MS in
relevant discipline having minimum 60% marks or equivalent CGPA.
- Scientist/Engineer
‘SC’: M.E./M.Tech
in RF, Microwave and Communication System Engineering in first class with
at least 60% marks or equivalent CGPA and B.E./B.Tech in Electronics &
Communication Engineering in first class with minimum 65% marks or
equivalent CGPA from a recognised university.
- Junior
Research Fellow (JRF): Postgraduate degree in Physics/Atmospheric
Science/Space Physics/Meteorology/Earth System Sciences/Geophysics/Remote
Sensing/Applied Chemistry with required minimum 65% marks or equivalent
CGPA or relevant M.E./M.Tech with 60% along with qualification in CSIR‑UGC
NET / GATE / JAM / JEST as specified.
- Age Limit: Scientist/Engineer SD -
maximum 35 years; Scientist/Engineer SC - maximum 30 years; JRF -
preferably 28 years as on last date; upper age relaxation applicable for
SC/ST/OBC/PwBD/Ex‑servicemen as per Government of India rules.

& JRF Salary 2026
Selected candidates under NARL Scientist/Engineer
& JRF Recruitment 2026 will receive pay and fellowship as per 7th
CPC and NARL norms.
- Scientist/Engineer
‘SD’: Level‑11,
basic pay Rs. 67,700/- per month (Rs. 67,700 - 2,08,700) plus admissible
HRA and Transport Allowance and other benefits.
- Scientist/Engineer
‘SC’: Level‑10,
basic pay Rs. 56,100/- per month (Rs. 56,100 - 1,77,500) plus admissible
HRA and Transport Allowance and other central government facilities.
- Junior
Research Fellow (JRF): Rs. 37,000/- per month for 1st & 2nd year
and Rs. 42,000/- per month for subsequent years along with admissible
allowances, hostel facility or HRA, medical facilities and subsidised
canteen as per rules.

The NARL Scientist/Engineer & JRF Selection
Process 2026 is primarily based on shortlisting and interview as per
the respective notifications.
- For
Scientist/Engineer SD & SC: NARL may adopt shortlisting criteria such as
higher educational qualifications, higher relevant experience, experience
counted after essential qualification, and number of publications in peer‑reviewed
journals to restrict candidates called for interview, followed by personal
interview only.
- For JRF: Candidates will be
shortlisted based on academic records, NET/GATE/JAM/JEST and other
credentials, and called for interview; sleeper class train fare will be
reimbursed to interview attendees as per rules.
